DigiPro Interview
DOCPA is a company from Duisburg, Germany, specialized in digitalization and sensor technologies in the environmental field. Together with its Dutch partner Opiliones 3D B.V., DOCPA participated in the Digipro project to realize the idea of a 3D-printed water buoy that can be used to measure water quality. In this interview, Martin Paplewski (owner of DOCPA) and Peter Sluiter (co-founder and director of Opiliones 3D B.V.) talk about the start of the cooperation, potentials beyond the border and their future plans.
In your opinion, is there still untapped potential across the border?
MP: "In order to create innovations, it is particularly important for companies to get in touch with other companies so that they can share their ideas. At the moment, there is still a lack of transparency of competencies across the border. We would never have thought of linking our technology with Opiliones' knowledge in the field of 3D printing because we don't know the companies in the Dutch border region well. You need partners who know the companies in the region, who can assess their strengths and connect them with potential cooperation partners.”
PS: "The potential of innovative minds on the frontier has not even been tapped for ten percent. There are thousands of companies that just need the right connection. Companies like Oost NL and MCC have the task of building a cross-border network. The longer and more often you support cross-border projects like Digipro, the more visible the results will be and the bigger the networks will become. In this way, our innovative ideas stay with the region and don't end up somewhere in Asia or the United States. Projects like Digipro can play an important role in this, because they are well suited for innovative ideas that start small and are very difficult for SMEs to implement with their own resources. With a specific focus and a limited time frame, you work specifically towards a prototype."
